REGARDING the items recently in The Bugle on the Big Bands coming to Dudley Hippodrome on a Sunday night.

A group of us girls used to come out of church, Swan Village Methodist, cross the road and catch the No. 74 bus to Dudley where we so enjoyed the music.

Little did I know, but the boy who to be my future husband, used to also go there with his friends.

We spent 49 wonderful years together and the love of that music never left us.

We would go to Birmingham Town Hall to see the BBC Big Band.

We also went to the Symphony Hall to see the farewell tour of the Ted Heath Band. I have a CD of that concert, which is truly memorable.

It is the kind of music that never leaves you and long may Clare Teal present it on Radio Two on a Sunday night.
