YOU asked for memories of the 1974 League Cup final game when Wolves beat Manchester City in The Bugle (March 13 edition).
Your correspondent Clive Corbett and I were best friends at school, but in 1973 my family moved to Hereford.
My father was a keen Manchester City supporter; in fact the last game he saw was the QPR game when they won the Premiership title.
Anyhow, we had no tickets for the game, but my father was adamant that we could get tickets at the ground, so off we drove to Wembley. He bought two tickets for the huge sum of £5.50 each. I am glad to say they were in the Wolves end. Right up to his recent death, he always blamed Rodney Marsh for losing that game who, instead of clearing the ball, miscontrolled it. The ball went towards the edge of the box – and the rest, as they say, is history.
