IN the Black Country Bugle (April 13 edition) there was an article on Green Shield stamps.

My wife and I collected them from Mr N. Cope's garage for the Blesma charity, the stamps were exchanged for goods to raffle off.

All the raffle goods went to different branches - Wolverhampton branch, Birmingham branch, Blesma home Blackpool, Blesma home Scotland.

We spent many Sunday afternoons sticking Green Shield stamps in the books. It all helped the war disabled veterans and war widows to go to the Blesma home for convalescents.
