MUGS, spoons and medallions are quite familiar coronation mementoes, but this one, which has been kept for over sixty years now by Elsie Cartwright of Stourbridge, is a bit unusual.

It's a small round bar of soap, imprinted on one side with the profiles of Queen Elizabeth and the Prince Philip as they looked in 1953, and on the other the words: 'To commemoroate the coronation of Elizabeth II', and the maker's name: Joshua Margerison of Preston.
