LAST WEEK, thanks to photographs supplied by Ray Williams of Darlaston, we revisited two golden eras in the history of Darlaston Football Club.
We mentioned along the way that in one particularly fruitful year for the Citizens, they had narrowly missed a double when they lost out in the final of the Walsall Senior Cup to neighbours Bilston FC, in 1973.
And here, in another of Ray's photographs, is that victorious Bilston side of '73, when they in fact achieved a treble. As well as the Senior Cup, Bilston also won the West Midlands League Premier Division and the West Midlands League Cup.
They missed out on the big one though. Bilston made the second round proper of the FA Cup, and held Barnet to a draw, only losing out in the replay at home.
Were you a member of that all-conquering Bilston side? Can you name any of the lads lined up in this picture? Write in, phone us, or send an email to gjones@blackcountry bugle.co.uk.
