When the turkeys hung next to the beef in the abattoir

PLEASE find enclosed a picture from 1959.

These pictures were taken at the time by my brother-in-law John Dixon who worked for Westwood's Butchers of Cheslyn Hay.

John Dixon later worked for himself, his abattoir is in Burntwood, and he had many customers in the Black Country.

You would never see all the meat carcasses together like this today.

Note the turkeys and chickens all hanging with the beef, and also the hair left on the beast's tails.

Just another story of how it was done in days gone by. Hoping this is of some interest to you and all your readers.

Ken Groom,

4 Jerome Way, Burntwood.
