IN the Black Country Bugle (December 19, 2013, edition) there was a photograph of the Darlaston Football Team of 1937/38 with their impressive haul of silverware. They set a goals record that has remained in place to this day.
I think that the man with the glasses, second from left, on the back row is my grandfather, Leonard Smith.
He worked in the drawing office at Rubery Owen, and despite moving to Wednesbury, and then to Weston-super-Mare on retirement, he continued to be an avid and life-long supporter of Darlaston Football Team.
I do not know why he is part of this particular team photograph as I was not aware he was an official in any sort of capacity.
However, I could be wrong!
