THE Severn Valley Railway (SVR) is looking to recruit more volunteers during a Volunteer Job Fair next week which coincides with the railway's ever-popular Members and Shareholders' Weekend.

The Volunteer Job Fair will take place at Kidderminster Station on Saturday, April 12, between 10am and 4pm.

The Members and Shareholders' Weekend takes place on Saturday and Sunday, April 13.

During the Job Fair, representatives from various departments at the railway will be on hand to talk to people about the range of tasks where volunteer help is needed and the training requirements.

Additional attractions at Kidderminster on the Saturday will include an engine in steam, diesel locomotive and a brake coach/wagon in the platform so that visitors can view and talk to the crew. Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) Shuttles will also be running to the Carriage Shed and Diesel Depot.

Engine cleaner James Rogers and John Price, signal man and fireman, were both introduced to the Railway by family members and joined the SVR Junior Club as teenagers. James has been involved with the railway for over 11 years and John more than 20. For more information go to www.svr.co.uk or call 01527 757900.
