The Severn Valley Railway is preparing to host one of its major annual events, the Autumn Steam Gala.
Taking place from September 20-22, the event has established itself as one of the country’s most popular railway events.
Visiting the railway this year are four prestigious guests including the famous Metropolitan No. 1 locomotive, a major flagship in the London Underground 150th anniversary celebrations earlier this year.
Also there will be the Ex-LMS Coronation Class No. 46233 Duchess of Sutherland and Ex- Southern’s Railway’s No. 925 Cheltenham, courtesy of the Mid Hants Railway & National Railway Museum.
The railway will also be bolstering its home fleet of Great Western engines with roving Hall class locomotive No. 4936 Kinlet Hall, named after the fine Grade 1 listed building nearby. Clare Gibbard, SVR’s marketing manager, said: “The Autumn Gala is traditionally the weekend when the SVR shows off what it does best – intensive services, all night running and lots of variety.
“This year is no different and we have a number of surprises and special attractions planned.”
There will also be sales stands and the Severn Valley Railway Charitable Trust, while the beer tent at Bewdley returns by popular demand.
