My sister was born at Cape of Good Hope pub in West Bromwich

I READ with interest Mike Fenton's article on Spon Lane, West Bromwich, in the Black Country Bugle (August 7 edition).

The reason for my email is that the Cape of Good Hope, one of the pubs at the Smethwick end of West Bromwich, is mentioned.

I lived there with my parents from around 1953 to 1957, and my sister was born at the pub in 1956. It was always referred to by the locals as the Cape.

I have been researching my family tree and have fond memories of life at the Cape. I have been searching for a photo of the pub to show my sister and include in the family tree, without any luck at all.

Since the Cape was mentioned in the article I was wondering if any readers were able to help?

If anyone has any photos, or any ideas as to where I might find one, I would be very grateful? Thank you for any help your readers may be able to give. Regards.

Lynn Spencer.
