IN The Bugle (December 16 edition) your article about the rise of Lenny Henry bought back a particular memory for me.
Lenny was at school at the time and our 'local' was the Bush in Dixon's Green.
We were in there one night and a regular customer told us to listen to "This Little Kid".
We duly did as the bar was dead quiet and when he finished his impersonations the bar customers all applauded.
A few years later we became licensees of the said "Bush."
Lenny did pop in a couple of times but his brother Hilton was a regular with his wife Betty who worked at the old people's home on Dixon's Green. Lenny was outstanding when he was a young lad and he definitely wasn't shy in any way. That's my memory of Lenny, the Dudley lad. When this happened he would be about 12 years old.
