Walsall sadness at Mickey Rooney's death

I WAS sad to hear of the death of Mickey Rooney, whom I tried to contact when I was writing my biography of Lye-born Hollywood actor Sir Cedric Hardwicke in 2006.

Mickey starred in Baby Fave Nelson with Sir Cedric in 1957. Sadly, I never was able to contact Mickey but I did manage to get hold of some of his former co-stars like Ernest Borgnine and June Allyson. Mickey was an indomitable force in Hollywood and brought us great entertainment alongside many of the greats like Judy Garland. May he RIP – the world will be a poorer place without him. Best wishes.
