I AM working on my family history and am trying to find information about my father's life as an amateur footballer in the area.

I wonder whether any of your reader can help me in my task? Although my father, Mathew Edward Siviter, often spoke about his footballing career nothing was ever recorded while he was alive.

He lived in Rowley Regis and played for a number of local teams winning numerous medals some of which I have. They include The Blackheath and Rowley Hospital Cup, The Birmingham & District A.F.A. League Championship Medal, The Handsworth &District Football League, The Birmingham Youth and Old Boys F.A, The Cradley Heath and District Football League, and two medals which have only initials on the reverse, a heart shaped one engraved C.C. & D.F.l O.A.W 1921/22 and one engraved But. Cup Wnrs.Mucklow Bs 1935/6 Could this be Butlers? He played for Halesowen Town and was good enough to be given a trial for Sheffield Wednesday but I understand that Halesowen would not release him at that time.

Regards.
