Who is in this picture with my Smethwick boxer dad?

I AM enclosing this family photograph which I am trying to identify and trace two of the people shown.

I would appreciate it if you could publish this in the hope your readers may be able to help in identifying the mystery faces.

My late father, James Thomas Henry Salcombe, is on the left. He was the cousin of Harry and Ronnie Salcombe and the brother of Colin. Like my dad, all were well-known local Smethwick born and bred bantamweight boxers.

The lady in the centre of the photograph I haven't got a surname for, but I'm told her name may well be either Mary Southall, a former resident of Queen Street area of Smethwick, or Margaret Leighton, a former resident of Mansion Crescent, Smethwick, both of whom I'm told were very close friends of my father.

The man on the right is James but I don't have a surname for him, although I wonder if he could be another cousin of my dad's, one whom I am not aware of? I'm told my dad, his father and all of his cousins were members of the old Smethwick Labour Club, along with his other cousins, the Brittle family of boxers from the Smethwick area. Therefore I would love to hear from anyone who attended this club.

The photograph was taken around 1952-1956? My dad went to the Uplands School, Smethwick and was born in 1935. He attended the old Warley Amateur Boxing Club, Londonderry Road, and the old ABC Boxing Club, Smethwick.

Dawn Salcombe,

14 Benchfield Close,

East Grinstead, West Sussex.
