I'D like to respond to the article sent in to The Bugle by Harry Bradley (April 24 edition).
The photograph of his family and friends was taken in the back yard of the Swan Inn in Providence Street, Cradley Heath (Jasper's) in the 1940s. My parents, Harold and Lilian Jasper, kept the Swan from 1928 to 1963. I was brought up there with my sister Cissie and I would like to give some additional information regarding Harry's photograph.
Back row: (?), my Uncle Bill and his wife Hannah Barnsley in apron, (?), Wilf Billingham, (?), Horace Bradley and his father.
Front row: Arthur Bradley, Harry Bradley, Len Grainger and Wilf Barnsley (with dog).
My husband Charles at 91 and myself at 89 still remember those faces from long ago. Many happy memories were rekindled by Harry's photograph.
Following on from this perhaps your readers may like to see this photograph, below, taken in 1953 (coronation year) of my parents standing on the steps of the Swan.
Mary Bartlett (nee Jasper).
