My memories of trying out new skates at Dudley rink

IN reply to Steve Murtagh's letter abut the Dudley Roller Rink in The Bugle (January 9 edition).

It was still open in the 1950s when myself, Val Hampton before marriage, and my best friend till this day Joan Hadlington (now Edge) went every Saturday morning.

It had an indoor rink and also an outdoor one. I was around 12 and Joan 10.

We used to love our Saturday mornings, it was very popular and always packed.

I can still remember the Christmas we both had the same new skates, we were thrilled and couldn't wait to try them out.

Happy days. Happy times.
