OUR thanks to Graham Clarke of Sedgley for providing this photograph of a local cricket side, which you can tell from that characteristic colouring was taken in the 1970s. Graham writes:

"How nice it was to see the photographs of a very young looking Brian Woodall in the April 3 edition's article headed 'Film and Cricket Stars Awards Presentation'.

"It prompted me to send to you a photograph of a (mainly) youngish looking Springhill Cricket Club, dating back to the early seventies.

"It was while playing for this club that I first met Brian, when his then-club Wordsley Hospital CC first visited the ground in 1973, and then in subsequent years.

"I can't remember after all these years whether I became one of his many victims, but no doubt he will let me know.

"What I can remember is that all our matches were played in a very sporting manner."

The Springhill men lined up as follows. From left in the back row:

"Robin Handley, Graham Clarke, Graham Day, Jim Sutton, Steve Sutton, Rob Monk. Front row: Alan Handley (captain), Brian Rose, Cedric Lewis, Peter Rabone, Ron Noakes.
