I'm glad Grandma was right about Wolverhampton oven

THANK you, as ever, for being kind enough to print my letters about and for Paul Gibbons' letter in The Bugle (May 22 edition) about the Lindy Lou oven.

It was most reassuring to know that Grandma Redhead was right about the communal oven at Lindy Lou, Wolverhampton (in the days when it would have been the Copper Kettle).

The domestic ovens of the day were small, many of them were built into the kitchen fireplaces. I can still remember the one that my Grandmother had and also a distant auntie by marriage, Auntie Olive, who lived on Saint Mark's Road, Wolverhampton. Thank you so much for laying this particular ghost to rest.

Mrs Alison Russon,

2 Teme Road, Cradley, Halesowen.
