Why isn't Billy Dainty in the Dudley top ten?

WITH reference to the article on the top ten of famous Dudley people in The Bugle (July 3 edition) a 'glaring' omission was comedy star Billy Dainty, who was well known for many TV appearances, theatre shows, pantomimes, summer shows and a number of Royal Command shows.

He also at times toured Black Country Working Men's and Social Clubs. I was privileged to have toured with Billy, who brought along with him Len Lowe, a TV author of note as his 'stooge'.

Billy brought joy and laughter on his club appearances with his eccentric dancing and visual comedy. He enhanced his Black Country Club shows by deliberately using a strong Black Country accent. Billy was a joy to work with and a delight on and off stage.

A true Dudley and Black Country legend.
