I WOULD like to say 'yes' to Mr Beardsmore, when he asked in his letter to The Bugle (July 3 edition) if anyone had a Bible older than his dated 1922..

I have a Bible and prayer book which belonged to my father, Mr Wilfred Rochelle. It is his Bible from WWI.

He was in the 1/S. Staffs. His service number was 8081. I don't know the year he joined. He was in service from the beginning and was taken prisoner of war on the Somme. He passed away in February 1958.

They were both well used. I used the prayer book at school. Thank you for a good paper, which I send to my sister in Cornwall.

Mrs Jean Mansell,

26 Ludlow Close, Short Heath, Willenhall.
