FOLLOWING your story in The Bugle (January 2 edition) on the J.W.Hunt Cup my father Jesse Garman played in goal in the first final of the J.W. Hunt Cup on April 14, 1926-27 season for Short Heath United, who beat Cannon Iron 2-0 on the Wolves ground.

Incidentally, there was a picture of the Great Western Railway with the article saying they had competed for that cup in 1926. But as they are not on the list of winners from 1926-27 to 2008-9, it must have been another competition they played in.

Trevor Garman,

West Bromwich.
