When cars were 100% British built

GAIL Middleton's article about holidays by car in the 1950s and 1960s in The Bugle (August 21 edition) made fascinating reading.

The photograph of a crowded Birmingham main road was revealing; I could identify 10 cars by manufacturer; 100% were British built!

Austin, Morris, Ford and Vauxhall - how times have changed for the UK car industry.

It was a pity that the number plates had been blacked out (why?) as this would have narrowed down the year of the photograph.
