Lower Gornal reader's festive memories

ONE day in December 2013 as I walked past Cradley Baptist Church on my way from the churchyard after leaving flowers on my aunt and uncle's grave, who both attended this church, I saw the minister at the door.

I asked if I could go inside, explaining that this was where I used to go to Sunday School some 55 years ago.

When I asked he told me there were some people who still attend the church from that date and whose names I remembered from way back then.

The minister kindly invited me to the Carol Service which I went to with my friend.

Everyone made us most welcome and I actually got to meet those people who were there all those years ago.

The nice thing was that they also remembered me.

We had a lot to catch up on and spoke about the original Cradley Baptist Church that stood at the top of High Street, Cradley, but was sadly demolished in the 1970s.

I thought I would like to say thank you to those people for the warm welcome and for remembering me, it meant a lot.

Lower Gornal.
