HERE is another Victorian advert for a Black Country company, courtesy of historian Ian Bott and his 1871 edition of Steen & Blacket's Original Illustrated Wolverhampton Guide.

Made at the town's Tower Works, the Compeer Trunk was part of a range of items from the firm, who made papier mache, japanned wares, and copper and tin-plate items; as did several firms in Wolverhampton in those days. How much would one of these trunks be worth today, we wonder?
