OUR feature in Bugle 1096 on the famous West Bromwich iron foundry Izons and Co. sent Beryl Hickinbottom of Tipton to her kitchen cupboards to find the Izons pot that has given faithful service for nigh on half a century.
Beryl writes, “Further to your article about long serving families at famous 200 year old Izons foundry, I am sending you a photo of my casserole dish that is approximately 50 years old.
“It was bought for me, by my husband’s aunt Rose Gough, who was employed there, as a wedding present in February 1964.
“I also had a set of saucepans, with the wooden handles, that unfortunately perished with age.
“I still use the dish regularly, it has few chips on the handles but it is in fantastic condition considering the age.”
