IN the Colley Gate graveyard we found 26 war graves plus one Bevin Boy memorial. The oldest grave dated back to the Boer War.

We need Bugle readers' help to clean it up, contact the vicar on 0121 550 1158. We also want to find living members of the war dead. Contact Norman Catton on 07864 102096.

We intend to make a nature trail around the 7-acre site, and would love local schools and organisations to help. We're also looking for bird boxes, owl boxes etc.

We would like to thank those who have helped us so far: Ibstock Cory Environmental Trust for £9,000 grant; Michelle from Dudley Council; the Vicar of St Peter's Church; the Probation Service and its Payback scheme; Councillor Richard Body; Toolbank, and my colleagues at Cradley & District Ex-Service Association 1919. Thanks for £105 from Two Gates Ragged School.

I'm also seeking 2.5 million poppy seeds to honour our local heroes. Don't forget there are 61 lime trees in the graveyard - one for every local man who gave his life for us in the First World War. Please note the graveyard opened this week.

David Kidby,

Ibstock Cory
