SHOULD the Cat be cast in bronze at Molineux, asked The Bugle in its February 13 edition? Definitely yes, yes, yes. Although I am not a Wolves supporter he was a legend and a wonderful man and should be remembered in this way with Stan Cullis and Billy Wright.
I had the pleasure in seeing him play quite a few times against the Villa (who I support) just hoping a would have a bad day but unfortunately he never did.
As a young lad I wrote to him for his autograph and not only did he send it to me he also went to the trouble of getting many more of his team mates' signatures for me. I was pleased to see the name of Alf Crook mentioned as one of his old teammates who attended the memorial service as I worked with Alf some 30 plus years ago. He was also in the RAF in Egypt and Italy with my brother-in-law who sadly passed away last year and they both attended many RAF reunions together but had lost touch.
