LANGLEY History Society members ensured Black Country Day was celebrated more than 1,700 miles away - in Turkey.

Secretary Lynn Paynter said she and her husband booked a last-minute trip to the Dedem Hotel in Hisaronu, Turkey.

She said that the owner of the hotel, Yuksel, heard about Black Country Day from his guests and became very interested in the event.

He said he wanted to support the day for the Black Country people who were staying at his hotel and asked for more information and photographs, along with a flag.

The Langley Local History Society were delighted to help Yuksel and the hotel.

Pictured holding the flag at the hotel are, from left, John and Mal Fox, Lynn Paynter and her husband George.
