TOMMY Mundon is one person who will be remembered long after his death for giving us 50 years of original jokes and stories in his natural and unpretentious Black Country dialect and bringing smiles and laughter to everyone who saw him perform live or read his words in his weekly Black Country Bugle cartoons.
His observations and his unerring accuracy at portraying the people of the area he loved were not made for profit or prestige but in humility and respect. His best jokes will never die and neither will his memory.
I am still telling some of Tommy's jokes from 40 years ago and I will keep telling them. He was what Black Country people call 'genuine' – one of the highest honours in the land and which is why we loved him. Goodbye, Tommy and thanks.
