TIPTON Civic Society will be hosting another of their popular historic talks next week.

Entitled 'A Walk Down old Owen Street', the presentation, by the society's vice-chairman Keith Hodgkins, will be illustrated with plenty of vintage photographs of what was once one of the liveliest main shopping streets in the Black Country

Keith told us:

"The talk will explore the history of Owen Street, Tipton and take a nostalgic look at its shops to revive memories of Eades's Chemists, Southan Brothers' Furnishings, Jones's Outfitters, Green's Butchers, George's Fish and Chips, the Black Cock Inn and many more."

The event is being held at Tipton Conservative Club, Union Street, Tipton, DY4 8QJ, (rear entrance from rear car park) at 7.30pm on Tuesday 22nd April. Admission is free and open to all.
