THE recent photograph of Crocketts Lane football team 1953/54 when they were league runners up brought back some memories for reader Roger Arrow.
He was a member of an opposing team (Cape Hill Juniors) which won the league that year and he encloses a photograph.
Roger writes, “The teacher top left is Mr Webster and the one in the middle is Mr Longborough. I can also remember some of the boys’ names.
David Rowberry (front second left) and David Sweeney, front, second right - either side of the ball).
“David Moorcroft, Robert Thompson, Roger Arrow, Allan Grogan, second, third, fourth and fifth from the left, second row. Don Mitchell and Kenny Mole, back row, fourth and fifth from the left.
“Robert (Bobby Thompson) went on to play at left back for Wolves, Birmingham City and Luton Town.
He also played for England eight times between 1963 and 1964.
