Body find sparks murder inquiry
A murder inquiry is under way after a 19-year-old man was found dead with "multiple injuries".
Police were called to a property in Irlams o' th' Height, Salford, shortly before 9.20pm on Sunday following reports of a concern for welfare.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene in Light Oaks Road.
A post-mortem examination will take place later.
Detective Superintendent Jon Chadwick said: "A young man has been tragically killed and our thoughts are with his loved ones at this time.
"I want to stress that we are at the early stages of our inquiries. We have a team of detectives working to establish the full circumstances that led to his death.
"I know residents will be alarmed by this incident, but I want to reassure the community that a thorough investigation is now taking place and there are extra patrols in the area.
"I would urge anyone who has information that can assist our inquiries to call us as soon as possible."
Anyone with any information should call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
