Audnam starlets in the 1950s

MR. R. Hill of 12 Maygrove Road, Kingswinford supplies the above photograph of his school football team at Audnam Secondary Modern, in 1957. This was a team of fourteen year olds which won the Brierley Hill schools league.

Standing: G. Bishop, R. Dunn, W. Harvey, Mr Wright, D. Woodward, R. Southall, A. Bishop.

Front: T. Potter, J. Green, M. Cotterill, R. Hill (sender), J. Whale.

Writes Mr Hill, “It is worth noting that Cotterill, Green, Hill and Southall were members of the Brierley Hill, Sedgley and Tipton side which reached the final of the English Schools Trophy (under fifteen year olds) and shared it for six months each with Doncaster Boys, after beating them 2-0 at Molineux and then losing 2-0 at Doncaster. No penalty shoot outs in those days!”
