A rather genteel snowball fight in Darlaston

A rather genteel snowball fight in Darlaston

IF DARLASTON was holding a competition to find the most half-hearted snowball fight, these two fellows would surely have taken the trophy.

This old picture postcard comes to us from the collection of Ian Bott, Wednesbury historian, and was taken in Darlaston Park, when the old bandstand and surrounding lawns were given a thick coating of the white stuff. There's no date on there, but we'd hazard a guess that it was taken during the 1920s or thereabouts.

Quite why two rather middle class-looking gents were chosen for the snowball fight, rather than a gang of schoolboys, is a mystery to us!
