WE are always pleased to receive stories and memories from former Tiptonian Ray James, who now lives in the Highlands of Scotland, and we thought we'd kick off the new year with another of his anecdotes.

"I've just about recovered from my travels all over the place last week, and nothing out of the ordinary occurred except the following.

"I called into Tesco, Inverness, at about 10.45pm to get some milk, and when I went to the checkout I was amazed to be served by another refugee from the Black Country who recognised my accent.

"The lady in question told me she was a wench from Cradley Heath and used to live not a stone's throw away from Bugle House; well blow me down, it continues to be a small world!"
