THANK you for printing my letter concerning West Bromwich Grammar School in The Bugle (February 20 edition).
But I would like to correct two typing errors. The head girl was Rose Parker (not Parkes), and the school badge was a throstle, not a thistle.
This was worn on our blazers and was on the hat bands worn on our panamas in summer and velour hats in winter.
Uniform was very strict in those days, even during the war.
I believe the throstle has some connection with West Bromwich Albion.
Perhaps someone could enlighten me?
