Where are these Salter scholars now?

FROM 1939 to 1942 I was a pupil of George Salter School, Claypit Lane, West Bromwich, and in 1942 I had the honour of being the "Salter Scholar" when my name appeared on the "Salter Scholars" Board along with others from 1935.

Having now reached the age of almost 85, I have, many times in my visits to old pupils' events, asked about the whereabouts of the Board. Early on this year the Board was located, and on March 11 I was privileged to address the present history class and photograph the Board.

A question was asked: "Where are they now?" and I gave my assurance to the present Head of the now 'Academy' that I would do my best to answer the question. With further help of the George Salter staff I have now been supplied with the remaining names which I enclose below:

1935 Frederick Perry; 1936 Ernest Cartwright; 1937 Alfred Cross; 193 8 Raymond A Markham; 1939 Fredk. Roy Poynton; 1940 Arthur Lovell; 1941 Dennis George Rudge; 1942 Joe Davis; 1943 George F. Gallimore; 1944 Stanley Carter; 1945 Brian W. Pace; 1946 Stanley Hall; 1947 Alan J. Nicklin; 1948 Raymond Timmins; 1949 Derek William Civil; 1950 William Henry Holmes; 1951 John Kenneth Wilkinson; 1952 William Thomas Timmins; 1953 James Edmund Harris; 1954 Frank Dixon; 1955 Keith Arthur Handley; 1956 Donald Clements; 1957 Edgar Hannington; 1958 Colin G. Cope; 1959 Percy Wilson; 1960 Anthony Brierely.

Is it possible through your paper that you may be able to obtain the answer to the question: Where are they now? Thank you.

Joe Davis,

18 Sandwell Road North,

West Bromwich.
