WE thank Bernard Francis of Walsall for supplying this school photograph of 76 years ago. We also thank him for his diligence in naming everyone in the picture, even the teacher looking through the window.

The picture was taken at Daisy Bank Junior School, Coseley, in 1938 and the girls, from left to right, are Bessie Hale, Iris Elwell, Doreen Strong, Joan Benion, Dora Fidoe, Joyce Horton, Adelaide Ellemon, Clara Sefton (in front), Gladys Baker, Mary Pitt, Sally Devey, Olywn Greenfield, Freda Richards, Iris Middleton, Doreen Crowther, Kathleen Edwards, Mabel Newman, Winifred James and Iris Lane.

The boys kneeling are Sidney Clark, Henry Billingsley, Bernard Francis, Fred Hackett, William Pearce, William Price, Walter Underwood, Arthur Griffiths, Arthur Baker, Dennis King, Joseph Morgan and James Salt.

The boys sitting are George Bateman, Dennis Potts, Arthur Brown, Harold (Samuel) Rudge, Patrick Gair, Albert Fellows, Arthur Glover and Harold Newell.

Standing at the back, on the right, behind his daughter Mabel, is the school caretaker George Newman, while looking through the window, above Joyce Horton and Adelaide Ellemon, is supply teacher Mr Hinkles.
