THERE’S a definite chill in the air, the clocks have gone back . . . there’s only one thing for it – porridge.

With so much choice of everyone’s favourite winter cereal on the supermarket shelves it’s difficult to know which one to buy.

Available in three flavours, Kellogg’s Special K’s multi-grain porridge hits the spot on a cold and frosty morning, warming the cockles of my heart.

As soon as I opened the sachet of the red berries or almond and honey the aroma of the gorgeous ingredients hit me – beautiful. Not overpowering, just the right amount in each flavour.

To serve simply cut the top off the sachet and pour contents into a cereal bowl (I always use a large one as I have had one or two incidents in the past with my breakfast becoming akin to The Magic Porridge Pot). Pour milk into the empty packet up to the line specified, tip into the bowl and stir into the porridge. Pop into the microwave for around two and a half minutes and voilà – a tasty and filling breakfast – with 30 per cent less fat than other porridges and naturally high in fibre.

While one sachet holds just the right amount for myself, I found that the individual pots or two single sachets held more sustenance for my partner John.

RRP £1.99 for 7 x 27g sachets of Original and 6 x 27g sachets of Red Berries and Almond & Honey varieties. Individual 50g pots are priced at 99p.
