ORGANISERS of the Kingswinford Poppy Appeal would like to thank members of the public for their outstanding generosity as £35,489.34 has been raised so far.

We are very grateful to the Branch, Women's Section and Kingswinford RBL Club members who gave so generously of their time to make this year's appeal such a success.

Thanks are also given to the local schools who continue to support this worthwhile cause, local businesses that very kindly collect for us, churches, cadet forces, scouts, cubs and brownies for their enthusiastic and generous support in making this amount for the Poppy Appeal.

In addition, we say thank you to Morrison's supermarket and the Co-op store who allowed us to use their premises to sell poppies and collect money for the Poppy Appeal.

Thanks also to the participants in this year's annual sponsored Poppy Walk, whose ages ranged from 3 years old to some who were in their 70s which took place on Sunday, September 22.

More than 50 people took part with the majority coming from the Army cadets from Brockmoor, Wombourne and Dudley.

We still await sponsor money but all the signs suggest that we will exceed the 2012 total of £1,200.00.

Fred Gorman,

Hon Branch Secretary,

The Royal British Legion,

South Staffordshire County,

Kingswinford Branch.
