West Bromwich feature reminded me of my childhood

WHEN I read the Dartmouth Park article in The Bugle (February 6 edition), it reminded me of my childhood and the Arboretum, Walsall.

I was born on April 6, 1932. My mother used to meet me and my brother from school on sunny days and go to Holliers cake shop in Lichfield Street, Walsall (long gone) and have a carrier bag of damaged cakes for 1d or 2d old money and go to the Arboretum to eat cream horns, chocolate eclairs, feed some to the ducks and give some to 'the fiddler', a Walsall tramp. We had lovely hot summers and bad winters, but this one is the wettest I've ever known. Hope we have a lovely summer. Happy, happy days.

L.O. Hens,

Tantarra Court, Tantarra Street,

Walsall.
