AS The Bugle went to press this week, Oldbury atlete Jodie Stimpson was celebrating her second gold medal of the Commonwealth games in Glasgow.

The Black Country triathlete, who was overlooked for the Olympics in 2012, gave her doubters something to think about when she won England's first gold of the games, and became Women's Triathlon Champion. She soon followed it up with another gold, as part of the Mixed Relay Team, along with the Brownlee brothers and Vicky Holland.

The 25-year-old returned to the family home in Oldbury on Sunday 27 to find it almost buried under bunting and gold balloons, and was presented with a huge replica gold medal three feet across!
