Woman dies after Goodwood crash
A woman driver has died after a crash at Goodwood motor racing circuit, police said.
Sandra Harrison-Moore, 37, was driving a Caterham type sports car when she apparently lost control coming out of the last bend during a time trial event and collided with a tyre wall on Saturday afternoon.
The driver, from Blackthorn Grove, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital with serious head injuries but died at 10.10pm.
Police were called to the circuit and have been investigating the crash on behalf of HM Coroner for West Sussex but there is no evidence of any other vehicle being involved, a Sussex Police spokesman said.
An inquest will be opened in due course.
Inspector Phil Nicholas said: "This appears to have been a tragic crash during a regular time trial event and our thoughts go to the victim's family, who were with her when she died."
The time trial event was being held under the auspices of the Motor Sports Association.
