When Tividale trembled to the sound of the Tonebeats

THINGS have gone relatively quiet on the Black Country band front of late, but Mr B Banks of Tipton has put things right for us, with these fine photos of a band he remembers well. Mr Banks writes: "The Tonebeats started around 1962/63, and played all over the Black Country. They made many appearances at The Gate Hangs Well in Tividale, Tommy Troubles' old pub.

"They later changed their name to Karl Day and the Tonebeats, adding another member later on. My nephew Terry Hill is still playing lead guitar today."

The band, only listed by their first names on their business card, comprised: Keith on lead vocals, Terry on lead guitar, Tony on rhythm guitar, Les on bass and Bob on drums. Let us know if you remember The Tonebeats or can tell us anything more about them.
