IF there is one aspect of the Christmas season which is even more endearing than a pretty snow scene, it must be the school nativity play, which is timeless, and is as enthusiastically performed today as it was many generations ago.

Before we leave Christmas behind for another year, we share with you a charming photograph taken at Walsall in 1958, which has been supplied to us by regular contributor Michael Doyle.
The location was St Mary’s The Mount R.C. School, and he informs us that the stage and scenery were painted as part of an art and cultural project.
He also tells us that the teachers involved in the producion — Mrs Pat Davies, Mr Terry Davies and Mr Vincent O’Brien — can be seen with the children in the photograph.
