Iron 'Oss from the Heyday of Steam

THIS fine photograph of a steam engine, probably from the 1920s or 30s era, has been kindly supplied to us by Eric Perkins of Amblecote, who in turn was given it by Richard Potts, a railways artist and former engine driver from Birmingham.

The picture shows some young railway apprentices or trainees posing on a GWR engine, but where? There is a strong possibility that it was at Stourbridge, as the original has a local photographer’s stamp on the back but can any steam railway aficionado confirm this?
