Being a keen reader of your weekly paper, Ive found it most interesting to read about Nurse Edith Cavell, who was murdered by the Germans during the First World War.
The reason I am writing to you is to tell you about a housing estate close to Burnt Tree Island, which was built during the nineteen-twenties. The names of the roads and streets on the estate are all connected with the First World War - Haig, Kitchener, Mons, Bunns etcetera.
"But there is also a short road in between Bunns Lane and Haig Road called Cavell Road, which I believe was named after Edith Cavell. This is the only Cavell Road in the Birmingham A to Z.
