Hamstead kids enjoy a party in the classroom

JUST look at their little faces —all smiles as they tuck into their festive fayre.

That’s what Christmas is all about.

Party in the classroom.
Party in the classroom.

This picture, which has been put our way by local author Terry Price, who received it from Carole Leedham of Great Barr, shows a class from Hamstead Primary School, enjoying their Christmas party in 1958.

It’s slightly unusual in that this party appears to have been held in the classroom, rather than in the school hall; but it looks all the cosier for it.

We have only two names; the girl three places from the left hand edge of the picture, with dark had at light cardigan, is Anne Hassall. The boy two places to the right of her, in the light coloured jumper with patterns around the neck, is Steven McKenzie.

If you can tell us who any of the others were, please get in touch.
