READERS’ help is requested to provide more information on the photograph shown on the left, which has been sent in by Susan Jackson, nee Grice, of Wednesbury, showing her mother with a gang of her girlfriends.
Susan writes, “Can any of your readers enlighten me as to who’s on the photo and where and when it was taken? “My mom, Eva Grice, nee Steed, is sitting in the middle of a group of friends. They look as though they’re having a great time. I love the dresses and shoes. Would you agree they all look beautiful?
“Also enclosed is a photo with my mom posed on a car.
In the background is the name of a hotel; I’m wondering if it was taken at the same time as the girls on the wall.
“My mom was one of seven children; three girls, Cecily, Iris and Eva, and four boys, Cyril, Colin, Gordon and Bill Steed. The girls have all passed away but my uncles all live a distance away, but I still keep in touch with them.
“Their parents, my Granddad and Nan, Victor and Henrietta Steed, lived at 27 Darlaston Road, Wednesbury.
They were mayor and mayoress of Wednesbury in 1958.
He was a Labour councillor for many years and did some good work for the Labour Party of Wednesbury.
