Cyclist found dying on roadside
A cyclist has died after being hit by a vehicle which failed to stop at the scene.
The family of the 27-year-old victim found him seriously injured at the side of the A151 in Spalding, Lincolnshire, after he failed to return home from work on Friday.
Lincolnshire Police said the cyclist, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was believed to have been involved in a collision some time after 9pm.
Officers were alerted to the incident by the ambulance service at 12.15am on Saturday.
A police spokesman said: "The family of a 27-year-old man from the Pode Hole area became concerned when he failed to return from work at his normal time on his bicycle.
"They set off to search along his usual route and found him seriously injured at the side of the A151.
"Sadly, the cyclist was certified as deceased at the scene."
Police are seeking information about any vehicle which appears to have sustained unexplained front or side impact damage.
The police spokesman added: "We would also appeal for the driver, any passenger in the vehicle or anyone with any information to come forward.
"The road is presently closed to allow for a forensic examination of the scene to be completed."
